Privacy

Almostry helps you understand your own money. This page explains, in plain words, what we keep, why, and how you stay in control. It is written with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 in mind.
What we keep
- Your account: name, email address, and your password (stored only as a one-way hash that no one can read).
- What you enter: accounts and balances, cards and loans, transactions, commitments, friends you add (a name and, if you choose, a phone number), receipt photos, your UPI ID and your settings.
- Security details: the browser and approximate network address of signed-in sessions, and which devices you’ve confirmed, so we can spot a sign-in from somewhere new. Passkeys store only a public key; your fingerprint or face never leaves your device.
What we never ask for
- Bank or card passwords, full card numbers, CVVs or UPI PINs. At most you add the last 4 digits of an account yourself.
- Access to your SMS inbox. A bank SMS you paste is read on your phone. One you share into Almostry from your messages app passes through our server to your screen and is not stored.
Why we use it
Only to run Almostry for you: to calculate what’s truly yours to spend, show what’s ahead, send the reminders and summaries you get, and keep your account secure. We don’t sell your data, show ads, or use advertising trackers.
Who helps us run it
- Vercel hosts the app. Our servers run in Singapore.
- Neon stores the database, also in Singapore.
- Resend sends our emails (codes, reminders, summaries).
- Your browser’s push service (Google, Apple or Mozilla) delivers notifications if you turn them on.
They process data only to provide these services to us.
Cookies
We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and to recognise a device you’ve confirmed. There are no analytics or advertising cookies.
Your choices and rights
- See and take your data: export your transactions as a CSV from Import & export.
- Correct it: edit anything in the app.
- Delete it: Settings → Delete my account removes your account and everything in it at once. Our database provider keeps short-lived backups for recovery, which expire on their own within days.
- Stop emails: reminders come from the settings you choose; write to us to stop summaries.
Friends you add
If you add a friend’s phone number, it is used only to open WhatsApp on your own device with a message you choose to send. Please add it only if your friend is happy for you to.
Children
Almostry is for people aged 18 and over.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we’ll email you first. Questions, requests or complaints (our grievance contact): privacy@almostry.com. We aim to reply within 7 days.
